It's a new year, and it's time for new goals and fresh starts. As I've been cleaning and organizing my home, a pile of Dallan's black, low-top Converse shoes has been accumulating on the stairs. The last time I bought a pair, I walked into Journeys and asked for, "black, low-top Converse, size 7." The salesman said they didn't have them, but that they had blue, red, brown & green, or they had some black Vans. I said something like, "they have to be black, I don't want any other color, and I don't want Vans." He looked at me like I was a bit crazy.
I love Dal in these shoes. He wears them everywhere, even to church. I get my money's worth out of each pair. Seeing that pile of them on the stairs made me think that maybe it's time for a change. Maybe high-tops, we'll see.
Speaking of shoes, my New Year's resolution is to get into a new pair of my own. I've been taking ballet for a few months, and it has been a blessing to dance again. I have missed it. I'll always regret giving it up after I got married. I decided that this year, more than anything, I want to learn pointe. I worked up the nerve to ask my teacher and she said that I can start, and she'll come with me and help me get fitted for pointe shoes. I can't wait. Happy new year!
