While we were in California over Spring break, Brian surprised me with an overnight getaway to Santa Barbara. It was a trip within a trip. It was also an early anniversary celebration. 13 years. That doesn't seem real to me... I'd better check my totem.
We stayed at the cutest little hotel right across the street from the beach. We had dinner out on the pier, and then took a walk in search of dessert.
We slept late and ate the most unbelievable french toast with homemade berry syrup and whipped cream. Now I can't have anything good to eat until my birthday.
After breakfast, we walked around State Street and then along the beach, and saw the King's Speech.
The gorgeous drive back to Valencia was a lot of fun. The highway goes through nothing but farmland, with countless fruit stands all along the way. There were never ending citrus groves, avocado orchards, and strawberry fields. We stopped to get some strawberries, and several times just so I could snap some pictures. We had a great time...Thanks Nana & Papa for keeping the kids for us!
