It'll take at least one more post to cover our spring break in California, but I'll start with our first activity and one of the highlights...

We took the kids to the Reagan Presidential Library in Simi Valley. We lived in Simi for a few years, it's where Cameron joined the family. The Reagan Library is about a mile down the road from our old apartment. I used to take Katy there on occasion when she was little. It's one of my favorite places, and I was so excited to go back after all these years.

first stop: our old apartment, to remind us of our roots. that was ours on the bottom floor. It had two bedrooms, two bathrooms, and was infested with ants. Our rent was almost $1400/month, which at the time was more than half our month's salary... ouch. We could only hook up our washer, so I carried baskets of wet clothes to the community laundry room to dry them. I don't ever want to forget those days.

so besides being close to the beach, this was the best part of living in California. The Oxnard strawberries. $12 a box. Heaven. Seriously.

Here's my family approaching the library, this courtyard is so pretty.

Replica of the Oval Office

Berlin Wall exhibit

Cameron looks mildly happy to be escaping East Germany.

Air Force One... it was very cool, we got to go inside.

Jelly Belly Reagan (his favorite candy)

My favorite part of the Reagan library is this section of the Berlin Wall, it's really amazing to touch such a significant piece of history.

The breathtaking view
final resting place

I was surprised at how much the kids enjoyed our visit. I thought they might be a little bored, but they had so much fun.
