I've got to get back to my blog!! I miss it! It's almost Halloween and I am so excited, especially because the costumes have been ready for a while. I swore I'd never make another costume after the elaborate Luke Skywalker costume I made for Cameron 3 years ago, but I just can't resist a project. Katy has been telling me she wants to be Wednesday Addams for weeks, and I didn't think too much of it because a) she has never seen the Addams Family so I'm not sure where this is coming from and b) she usually changes her mind 10-12 times before Halloween. So one Saturday I took the kids to Party City to look at costumes thinking that she'd find something else and forget about Wednesday, not so. Cameron however took it easy on mom and found a ninja costume (only $12.99), nice. I didn't see anything cute for Dallan and left the store thinking, "I'll find something somewhere else," not so lucky. Next stop (after dropping Cam off at home because if the errand doesn't involve him, he is not fun to be with) was the best store ever, Hobby Lobby. We found a dress pattern that looked close to Wednesday's outfit, some charcoal gray fabric, buttons, and some advice from the Hobby Lobby employee. I had everything I needed, everything except any knowledge or experience sewing with a pattern. I may not have any clue what I am doing, but that doesn't ever seem to stop me from trying! Then I got to thinking about how fun it would be to dress Dallan as Nacho Libre. Once again, I decided that rather than purchase a costume, I'd get in way over my head and make a home made costume with my profound lack of sewing skills. Red stretchy fabric, red vinyl, 1 pair of tights and some aqua blue dye.... ready, set, dive right in Sarah... right into the deep end. There were several confusing and frustrating moments but I think I pulled it off, and should we show up on your doorstep next week, begging for candy... please don't look too close!
Miss Wednesday
